Multi-channel, Pt. I
December 13 – January 8
A show about multiple modes of perception and cross-genre dialogues. The artists in this exhibition converge at Launchpad from widely varying creative practices. If perception is an individualized orientation in time and space that takes place through relationships to images and sounds, our different ways of working have an exciting potential during the evening of December 13.
My goal is to realize a creative encounter, which will ultimately take place in the mind of you, who were are delighted to invite to this show. The non-time-based works will be on view until early January.

In connection with the show, Launchpad hosted a workshop on December 22, lead by neuroscientist/ceramicist Armen Enikolopov and sculptor/yogi Lara Saget. The Spatial Awareness workshop focused on the neural underpinnings of the body’s physical sensations, the vestibular and proprioceptive systems. The vestibular system allows a sense of balance and spatial orientation. Proprioception controls awareness of body position by sensing the exact position of each muscle and tendon. These systems are crucially integrated with optical perception in order to orient the body. This workshop provides an intellectual understanding of how the system works, and the opportunity to integrate this knowledge physically, using yoga as a means to sense what actually happens when the body moves.
